Islamabad: Pakistan and Turkiye Monday reaffirmed their strong and united stance on the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, as the humanitarian crisis in the besieged Palestinian territory continues to escalate.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Ishaq Dar, held a telephonic conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Monday, during which the two leaders expressed deep anguish over the worsening situation in Gaza.

Both ministers strongly condemned the continued Israeli aggression, denouncing the relentless bombardment and the mounting civilian casualties, particularly the deaths of women and children. They voiced grave concern over the deteriorating humanitarian conditions, including widespread starvation, forced displacement, and destruction of civilian infrastructure.

Underscoring the urgent need for uninterrupted humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, the two foreign ministers called for coordinated and immediate international efforts to enforce a ceasefire and address the growing humanitarian tragedy.

Reiterating their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, both sides emphasized that peace in the region cannot be achieved without a just, comprehensive, and lasting resolution rooted in international law and the will of the Palestinian people.

In this context, they welcomed the holding of an international conference on the implementation of the two-state solution, taking place today at the United Nations. The leaders expressed hope that the forum would yield concrete progress toward the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and viable State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
