The 2024-2025 Invention Convention China National Finals (ICC) concluded on Monday with a grand closing ceremony and awards presentation in Zhengzhou, Henan province.

Guided by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and organized by the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development, the event gathered more than 10,000 young innovators from across China in Zhengzhou, fostering scientific curiosity, nurturing innovation, and cultivating social responsibility among the next generation.

Ma Zhifeng, vice-mayor of Zhengzhou, stated the event has provided an expansive platform for young people to showcase their talents, exchange knowledge, and progress together.

After two days of intense competition, the national gold, silver, and bronze medal winners were unveiled, with the prestigious “Best of Show” award presented to the most outstanding invention.

Song Mengting, a competition judge, praised participants for their hands-on engagement and practical problem-solving approach. “What impressed me most was witnessing the children’s deep involvement in their projects — their authentic passion was truly inspiring,” she remarked.

For parents like 36-year-old Zhang Wenbin from Guangzhou, Guangdong province, the event offered valuable insight into his 8-year-old son’s developmental progress. The young participant, who has cultivated a strong interest in hands-on problem-solving through 18 months of programming studies, demonstrated remarkable growth.

“What matters most is his enthusiasm and curiosity to explore,” Zhang emphasized, adding that such competitions provide a foundation for children’s future by nurturing the next generation of innovative thinkers.
