France have potential to win events, Delapierre promises on eve of Germany Sail Grand Prix

Paris: NorthStar SailGP Team need to rediscover their early season form if they’re to challenge for the Championship title, according to driver Giles Scott.
Double Olympic gold medallist Scott led his team to victory in Los Angeles as well as runner-up spots in Sydney and San Francisco during the first half of the 2025 Season.
But a seventh in New York and an eighth in Portsmouth sent NorthStar tumbling down the overall leaderboard, and they go into the Germany Sail Grand Prix in Sassnitz fifth overall with a ten-point gap to the podium.
Speaking at the Sassnitz press conference on the eve of racing, Scott said making up the points deficit would be tricky but by no means impossible with five events still remaining.
“From our position after a disappointing event in Portsmouth we’ve got some work to do in this back end of the season that’s for sure,” said Scott, who took on the driver role with NorthStar after transferring from Emirates GBR for the 2025 Season.
“We need to find the form we had a few events ago. That’s really our focus. With the points and depth of field there’s still plenty of scope for some mixing up the overall positions.”

Sassnitz, on Germany’s Baltic Sea coastline, could provide NorthStar with an ideal opportunity to mount a comeback with its flat waters and decent breeze.
The combination of these two elements will put more of a focus on tactics – an area that Scott and strategist Annie Haeger will embrace.
Scott added: “There’s definitely work to be done but hopefully some exciting times ahead. Ten points is a gap but it’s certainly bridgeable and that’s what we’re focusing on.”
