Bilawal Bhutto urges ppp workers to intensify relief efforts in flood-hit regions

Islamabad: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by heavy rains and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, calling the devastation a stark reminder of the global climate crisis.
“The people of Pakistan are paying the heaviest price for a crisis they did not create. From southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan to the northern provinces, climate change is destroying lives and livelihoods. This is no longer a local or regional issue—it is a global humanitarian emergency, and the world must stand with Pakistan,” Chairman Bhutto Zardari said in a statement issued by the Media Cell at Bilawal House.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by relief organizations and armed forces working in dangerous conditions, he praised their “courage and commitment to saving lives in the most difficult of circumstances.”
At the same time, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari directed PPP supporters, office-bearers, elected representatives, and ticket-holders to step forward with full energy and compassion to assist flood-affected families. “Our workers have always stood by the people in their darkest hours,” he emphasized. “Now, once again, I call on you to be at the forefront—offering both solidarity and practical support to those in need.”
The PPP Chairman highlighted that the party’s governments in Sindh and Balochistan have already mobilized assistance. The Sindh government has dispatched ten trucks of ration bags and a water filtration plant to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while the Balochistan government has sent essential non-food supplies—including tents, blankets, cooking sets, and bedding—for 1,500 families in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 1,000 families in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Recalling PPP’s historic response during the 2022 floods in Sindh and Balochistan, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari noted that the party not only provided immediate relief but also launched the world’s largest free housing project for climate-affected communities. He urged local administrations in KP, GB, and AJK to learn from the successful rehabilitation models implemented by Sindh and Balochistan and assured them of PPP’s full cooperation.
“This is a human tragedy that demands collective action. Relief alone is not enough—we need long-term rehabilitation, planning, and global support to address the root causes of climate change. PPP stands ready to play its role,” Chairman Bhutto Zardari concluded.
