British High Commissioner Jane Marriott calls on Balochistan CM Bugti

Quetta: British High Commissioner Jane Marriott on Friday met with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, where both sides agreed to enhance the capacity of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on bilateral cooperation, the impacts of climate change, good governance, improvements in law and order, reforms in education and health sectors, and the province’s development strategy.

Chief Minister Bugti stated that climate change poses an exceptional challenge, and to address its impacts, Balochistan has established its first Climate Fund. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to promote governance and transparency, revealing that Rs. 14 billion was saved from the non-development budget during the previous fiscal year.

British High Commissioner Marriott appreciated the provincial government’s reform efforts and commitment to good governance. The meeting also resulted in agreement on providing training and expanding cooperation in various areas to enhance the professional capacity of the CTD police.
