Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Vice President and Senator Sherry Rehman on Monday strongly condemned the killing of six journalists in Khan Younis, describing Israel’s actions as “barbaric crimes” and a direct assault on press freedom and humanity.

In a scathing statement, Rehman said that Israel’s “brutal and inhumane policies have permanently silenced six more journalists in Gaza,” stressing that this was not only an attack on innocent lives but also a blatant strike against journalism and freedom of expression.

“The killing of journalists is not only a heinous crime but also a grave war crime under international law. Israel is openly displaying terrorism, brutality, and lawlessness before the entire world,” she remarked.

Rehman said the deliberate targeting of media workers served as undeniable evidence of Israel’s hostility toward journalism and its intent to suppress the truth. “The merciless killing of six journalists in Gaza is irrefutable proof of Israel’s enmity with the press and its malicious intent to silence reality,” she added.

She further lambasted Israel’s broader pattern of attacks, saying: “Hospitals, children, women, and now journalists—Israel’s targets know no moral or humanitarian bounds. Every action it takes is a violation of humanity and a chilling example of moral depravity.”

Condemning the recent bombardment of Al-Nasr Hospital, Rehman said the strike epitomized Israel’s “cruelty and blatant violation of international law” and should be enough to awaken the conscience of the global community.

“Israel, with its hands stained with the blood of journalists, has no right to portray itself as a torchbearer of democracy and freedom,” she declared.

According to the PPP leader, the unfolding events in Gaza go far beyond warfare. “What is happening in Gaza is not a war—it is genocide, a grave violation of human rights, and a war against truth itself,” she said.

Rehman urged the international community to act decisively to halt the humanitarian catastrophe. “It is the responsibility of the global community to take immediate, effective, and practical steps against this cruel and inhumane massacre to prevent further tragedy,” she concluded.
