Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif embarked on an official visit to China from August 30 to September 4, 2025, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, underscoring the deepening of Pakistan-China ties under the “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.”

According to the Pakistani Foreign Office, the Prime Minister will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, where he will join other world leaders in discussing key regional and global challenges. He will also participate in the commemorative military parade in Beijing marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

In addition to his multilateral engagements, Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The agenda includes strengthening cooperation across multiple domains, advancing the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and reinforcing strategic coordination on international issues.

A key feature of the visit will be the Prime Minister’s interaction with top Chinese business leaders and his keynote address at the Pakistan-China Business-to-Business Investment Conference in Beijing. The event aims to attract fresh Chinese investments into Pakistan’s energy, agriculture, technology, and infrastructure sectors.

“The Prime Minister’s visit will reaffirm the vitality of high-level exchanges and carry forward the momentum of Pakistan-China friendship,” the FO said in a statement.
