Islamabad: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has paid rich tribute to the valiant defenders of Pakistan’s skies and the martyrs of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on the occasion of Air Force Day, being observed nationwide today.
In a statement, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that September 7 is etched in the nation’s memory as a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and unmatched professionalism of the PAF. “It was on this day in 1965 that our Shaheens, despite overwhelming odds, wrote golden chapters of bravery in the defense of the motherland,” he said.
He emphasized that this proud tradition of valor continues even today. Recalling a recent chapter of glory, the PPP Chairman said that in response to Indian aggression, the Shaheens not only safeguarded national sovereignty but also downed six enemy warplanes—an achievement remembered as the “6.0 victory.” “Through their courage and brilliance, the guardians of our skies once again reminded the world that Pakistan’s sovereignty is inviolable and that the PAF remains a symbol of national pride,” he remarked.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari further said that the PPP has always held martyrs and ghazis of the armed forces in the highest esteem. He recalled that Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto strengthened the foundations of national defense, while Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, during her tenure as Prime Minister, gifted the nation with missile technology and took significant steps to modernize the PAF. “Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto exerted pressure on the Clinton administration to secure F-16 aircraft for Pakistan, and it was also during her tenure that Pakistan and China signed the MoU for the co-production of JF-17 Thunder aircraft,” he highlighted.
The PPP Chairman underscored that the true strength of the PAF lies not only in its aircraft and weaponry but in the indomitable spirit of its men and women. “The PAF Shaheens teach us that with faith, unity, and discipline, the sky is never the limit—it is our domain,” he said.
Concluding his message, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari prayed for the continued strength, modernization, and glory of the PAF. “May the Shaheens of Pakistan always soar high, protecting our beloved homeland with honor, faith, and unwavering resolve,” he added.
