Islamabad hosts China-Pakistan Donkey Industry Development Forum: A new chapter in agricultural cooperation

Islamabad: The China-Pakistan Donkey Industry Development Forum, themed “Creating Opportunities Together, Winning the Future Together,” was inaugurated with grandeur in Islamabad on Thursday afternoon, marking a milestone in agricultural collaboration between the two countries.
The forum, co-hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan (CCCPK) and Sangyang Industrial (Beijing) Group Co., Ltd., was organized under the guidance of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan and Pakistan’s Ministry of National Food Security and Research (MNFSR). The event brought together hundreds of government officials, scholars, enterprise leaders, and livestock experts from both nations.
Speakers, including Shi Yuanqiang, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy, and senior Pakistani officials, stressed that the donkey industry has untapped potential to contribute to food security, rural livelihoods, and economic growth. China’s deep experience in livestock industrialization and scientific breeding was presented as a model for Pakistan to learn from and adapt.
The forum featured thematic sessions on donkey genetic conservation, modern breeding techniques, high-value by-product utilization, digital transformation, and branding strategies.
Experts from China, including Professor Zhang Jianhua and Professor Zeng Shenming of China Agricultural University, called for greater investment in technology, smart management, and innovation to improve efficiency and competitiveness in the sector.
