Henan’s Jan–Aug foreign trade exceeds 550 billion yuan for first time

Zhengzhou: Henan’s import and export value hit a record high of 550.01 billion yuan in the first eight months of this year, up 19.3% year-on-year, outpacing the national average by 15.8 percentage points, according to Zhengzhou Customs on September 16. It is the first time in history that the province’s foreign trade volume has surpassed 550 billion yuan during this period, setting a new milestone. Exports totaled 364.31 billion yuan, a surge of 29.3%, while imports reached 185.7 billion yuan, a 3.6% increase.

In the first eight months of this year, Henan’s trade with ASEAN amounted to 74.31 billion yuan, up 8.8% year-on-year. Trade with the EU totaled 73.56 billion yuan, up 27.9%, while trade with South Korea stood at 37.49 billion yuan, up 9.6%.

During the same period, Henan’s trade with Belt and Road countries reached 271.38 billion yuan, an increase of 14.5%; with other RCEP members, 165.15 billion yuan, up 22.7%; with other BRICS members, 93.33 billion yuan, up 37.4%; with Latin America, 62.04 billion yuan, up 11.9%. Exports to Africa alone totaled 23.88 billion yuan, a rise of 25.5%.
