Portugal elections May 18: register now to vote early

Lisbon: Portugal will head to the polls for legislative elections on Saturday, May 18, and voters who wish to cast their vote early can now register to do so.

Early voting is open from now until Wednesday, May 8. This allows citizens to vote in advance, making it easier for those travelling, working, or living outside their parish on election day.

Anyone who is registered to vote in Portugal can apply for early voting on the move, known as voto antecipado em mobilidade. This allows you to vote one week before the official election day, on Saturday, May 11, at a location of your choice.

This includes any municipality in mainland Portugal, as well as in the Azores and Madeira. You do not need to vote in the same parish or region where you are registered, but you must indicate where you will be voting and where you are registered.
