Italy, Pakistan join hands to fight narcotics, organized crimes

Islamabad: Pakistan and Italy have agreed to establish a Joint Working Group for developing a unified strategy against narcotics and organized crimes.
The understanding was reached during meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi in Islamabad today.
Both sides discussed trade, security ties, and matters of mutual interest and agreed to enhance cooperation in security, counter-narcotics, human trafficking, and combating terrorism.
The Italian Interior Minister reaffirmed the commitment to strengthen collaboration with Pakistan in counter-terrorism, human trafficking, and anti-narcotics efforts.
He said an Italian team will soon visit Pakistan to strengthen border security.
Mohsin Naqvi said taking strict action against illegal immigration and its facilitators is Pakistan’s top priority.
On the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi also apprised his Italian counterpart of India’s cowardly act of aggression carried out last night and highlighted the motives behind it.
The meeting underlined the need for meaningful efforts to de-escalate tensions.
The Italian Interior Minister expressed sorrow over the martyrdom of Pakistani civilians and extended condolences to the bereaved families.
Mohsin Naqvi said India blatantly violated international law by targeting civilian populations but Pakistani armed forces gave a befitting response to Indian aggression and destroyed five enemy fighter jets.
He said Pakistan has been warning the world about India’s dangerous designs from day one and held India responsible for destabilizing the regional situation.
Meanwhile, talking to Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker in Islamabad today, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said India has jeopardized peace in South Asia and torn apart regional stability.
The Interior Minister emphasized that India violated international laws by deliberately targeting civilians.
Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan responded effectively to defend its sovereignty and showed utmost restraint but will never compromise on its national security.
He further stressed that Pakistan had already alerted friendly nations about India’s dangerous intentions.
