Bilawal Bhutto Calls for Global Support for Peace Through Dialogue, Highlights Pakistan’s Diplomatic and Military Resolve

WASHINGTON D.C., June 5 – Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and head of the parliamentary delegation, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has called on the international community to stand with Pakistan in its pursuit of sustainable peace through dialogue and diplomacy, particularly in a region often marred by historical tensions and mistrust.
Speaking at a reception hosted by the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington D.C., Bilawal emphasized that the path to lasting peace in South Asia lies not through confrontation but through comprehensive engagement and meaningful dialogue. “We believe peace is not only desirable but achievable—if there is willingness on all sides to prioritize diplomacy over hostility,” he said.
Addressing recent escalations in Pakistan-India relations, the PPP chairman asserted that Pakistan had demonstrated maturity and restraint in the face of provocation. He lauded the professionalism and bravery of the country’s armed forces for their effective defense against aggression, and commended Pakistan’s diplomatic corps for articulating the country’s position with clarity and strength on the international stage.
Bilawal also recognized the critical role of the Pakistani diaspora in the United States, describing the community as an invaluable bridge between Pakistan and the U.S. “You are ambassadors of peace and progress,” he told the attendees, encouraging them to contribute meaningfully to the shared goal of stability, prosperity, and mutual understanding between the two nations.
Also speaking at the event, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, condemned India’s regional posturing, calling its narrative one “driven not by facts, but by fear and suspicion.” He accused Indian forces of targeting civilians, including children, during recent hostilities, while praising Pakistan’s measured and unified response, which he said “stood firm on principles and succeeded diplomatically and defensively.”
Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, underscored the strength that comes from national unity and a commitment to dialogue. “Our ability to remain composed and focused during challenging times reflects our collective strength and our resolve to pursue peace through diplomatic means,” he stated.
The reception was attended by a wide cross-section of the Pakistani-American community, including business leaders, professionals, and civil society members. Participants expressed strong solidarity with Pakistan’s armed forces and leadership, voicing confidence in the government’s ability to defend national interests and promote peace on the world stage.
The event concluded with a resounding call to maintain momentum in Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach and reinforce its vision for a peaceful, secure, and prosperous South Asia
