China’s consistent policies and visionary leadership offer a model for Pakistan’s development, says banking ombudsman

Karachi: Pakistan’s Federal Banking Ombudsman Sirajuddin Aziz has praised China’s remarkable economic transformation, attributing its global economic strength to visionary leadership, policy consistency, and strategic long-term planning. a model that developing nations like Pakistan can learn from and emulate.
Speaking at the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs (PIIA) during a special session titled “China’s Transformation: Lessons for Developing Countries,” Aziz emphasized that China’s foreign trade has now reached trillions of US dollars, a testament to its disciplined and forward-looking governance.
“China’s rise is no accident, it is the result of unshakable national focus, policy continuity, and clarity of purpose at the leadership level,” Aziz said. “Pakistan has the potential to replicate China’s achievements if we adopt the same clarity and consistency in our national policies.”
He also highlighted China’s peaceful rise on the global stage, adding that Beijing seeks to resolve the Taiwan issue through dialogue, not conflict — a reflection of its diplomatic maturity.
Aziz urged Pakistan to actively seek greater Chinese investment, noting that such cooperation could be pivotal for Pakistan’s development. He said China’s role in global economics, its disciplined transformation, and strategic vision offer crucial lessons for Pakistan and other developing nations.
Reviewing China’s historical trajectory, the Ombudsman underscored the importance of understanding the reforms and institutional overhauls that helped the country transition from an agrarian economy to an industrial and technological powerhouse.
“China’s story is not just about growth, it’s about transformation. It’s time for Pakistan to draw inspiration from our neighbor and apply these lessons with determination,” he said.
