Henan’s GDP grows 5.7% in H1

Zhengzhou: Henan’s GDP reached 3,168.38 billion yuanin the first half of 2025, growing 5.7% year on year, 0.4 percentage points higher than the national average, according to Henan Provincial Bureau of Statistics on July 18. Key economic indicators in Henan exceeded the national average, with the economy maintaining steady and positive growth, successfully achieving its targets on schedule.
According to unified regional GDP accounting, the primary industry stood at 225.21 billion yuan, up 2.7% year-on-year; the secondary industry reached 1.22 trillion yuan, up 6.0%; and the tertiary industry totaled 1.72 trillion yuan, also up 6.0%.
Agricultural production remained generally stable. Summer grain output was basically stable, with a total yield of 37.5 billion kilograms. In the first half of the year, Henan produced 208,900 tons of Chinese medicinal materials, up 2.4% year-on-year; 131 million fresh-cut flowers, up 15.0%; and 39.33 million potted ornamental plants, an 8.5% increase compared to the same period last year. Emerging economic drivers demonstrated robust growth. In the first half of the year, Henan’s high-tech manufacturing output above designated size rose 14.9% year-on-year, accelerating by 0.8 percentage points from the first quarter. The output value of strategic emerging industries increased 10.7%, up 0.1 percentage points from the first quarter. Among these, the new energy vehicle industry and the next-generation information technology industry grew 30.5% and 13.3% respectively. Production of new products such as lithium-ion batteries, servers, and new energy vehicles surged by 93.4%, 48.2%, and 34.9% year-on-year respectively. New and upgraded consumption maintained strong momentum. Online retail sales reached 244.11 billion yuan in the first half, up 16.3% year-on-year, surpassing the national growth rate by 7.8 percentage points.
