Pakistan, China celebrate cultural friendship through calligraphy event in Islamabad

Islamabad: In a vivid demonstration of Pakistan-China cultural diplomacy, the National Language Promotion Department (NLPD) of Pakistan and the Institute for Community and Shared Future at the Communication University of China, Beijing, jointly hosted a prestigious event on Thursday afternoon, titled “Pak-China Dostana Talukat: Khatati ke Ainay Mein (Pakistan-China friendly relations: In the mirror of calligraphy).”
The program, organised in close collaboration with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, highlighted the enduring legacy of friendship between the two brotherly nations through the art of calligraphy.
Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, while addressing the gathering, described the Pakistan-China partnership as a “cornerstone of regional peace, development, and prosperity.” He noted that cultural initiatives of this nature not only honour the historical depth of the bilateral relationship but also serve as milestones in further strengthening people-to-people exchanges and shared cultural understanding.
Professor Dr. Li Huailiang, Dean of the Institute for Community and Shared Future, Communication University of China, in his address, hailed Pakistan-China relations as “exemplary and timeless.”
He underscored the importance of broadening cultural and academic linkages, stressing that such engagements nurture mutual respect, deepen trust, and provide new avenues of cooperation in the ever-evolving global environment.
Shahir Mehmood Khan Khokhar, Chairman of NLPD, and Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director of the Center for Global and Strategic Studies, also highlighted the need for greater intellectual collaboration and cultural dialogue between the two countries.
In his concluding remarks, Director General NLPD, Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, extended gratitude to the distinguished Chinese and Pakistani participants for their contributions, reaffirming NLPD’s commitment to using language, literature, and cultural arts as bridges of connectivity.
The event drew enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members of both nations, who presented captivating calligraphy displays symbolizing the “iron brotherhood.” Their artistic contributions vividly reflected the shared cultural heritage and mutual aspirations for a brighter future under the banner of Pak-China friendship.
