Islamabad: In a meeting with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Yunchun Yang, Owner and CEO of Serene Air, pledged to expand Chinese investment in Pakistan’s aviation sector by strengthening the airline’s fleet and network.
Dr. Yang, who is also a leading semiconductor entrepreneur with global operations, assured the President in Kashgar that Serene Air will enhance its presence in Pakistan and boost connectivity between the two countries. President Zardari urged the airline to induct more aircraft to improve domestic and international operations, particularly routes to China.
Serene Air represents the first major Chinese private investment in Pakistan’s aviation industry and is also the first private Pakistani carrier to operate flights directly to Beijing. Dr. Yang highlighted collaborative ventures with the Pakistan Air Force, including work on JF-17 avionics, as part of China’s growing technological partnerships with Pakistan.
The meeting, attended by senior Pakistani officials and the Ambassadors of both countries, reaffirmed aviation as a new frontier of China-Pakistan economic cooperation, complementing broader connectivity initiatives under CPEC.
