Pakistan-UK returns, readmission, extradition agreements finalised
Islamabad: The agreements on returns, readmission, and extradition between Pakistan and the United Kingdom were finalised by a special cabinet committee.
The development took place on Monday during a committee meeting in Islamabad presided over by Minister of Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.
After final consultation with the United Kingdom, the agreement will be submitted for signing between the two countries.
Last month, the draught agreement was sent to the British government for consultation after being approved by the cabinet.
Only citizens who have been sentenced by relevant courts will be repatriated under the agreement.
The Committee also decided to conclude the Pak-UK Extradition Treaty as soon as possible, which will allow for the extradition of convicted persons between the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari.
