PPP agrees with army chief’s stance about US relations: Yousaf Raza Gilani

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday said that his party supported whatever Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa had said about Pakistan’s relations with the United States of America.

Talking g to media at PPP’s Secretariat here in Islamabad, Gilani said, “Outgoing Prime Minister Imran Khan has caused much harm to our relations with the USA.”

Earlier, COAS Qamar Bajwa, while speaking at the National Security Dialogue in Islamabad, had said that Pakistan and USA shared historic relations and Pakistan wanted to see enhanced relations with the county.

The former PM said the joint opposition would face whatever actions the outgoing government wanted to take against its political rivals. He said PM Khan instead of calling his workers to gather at D-Chowk, he should gather the support of 172 MNAs which he had not at the moment.

He said Imran Khan should go home like a sportsman like he had done even after a controversial decision of the apex court.

To a question, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said the schedule of new elections would be announced by the incoming government. He further said Imran Khan should stop blaming political parties including his former allied parties for conspiring against his government with the blessings of a powerful foreign country.

He said cable from an ambassador was a routine thing but Imran Khan had termed it a conspiracy.
