Rome: Made in Italy exports account for 32% of GDP, Italian Trade Agency (ICE) President Matteo Zoppas said during a parliamentary hearing on Monday.

Zoppas told the House Industry Committee that exports had a vaue of 625 billion euros in 2022, up 20% over the previous year.

Exports were driven by non-durable and intermediate goods, the ICE president said.

There are some 112,000 Italian companies producing for the export market, he added.

In 2022 imports rose by 36.5% over 2021 to reach a value of 656 billion euros, driven primarily by the purchase of energy products.
