Pakistan, China agree to fast-track work on ML-1, SEZs

Islamabad: Pakistan and China have agreed to fast-track the implementation of ML-1 and Special Economic Zones for the timely execution of projects.

An agreement to this effect was reached during a meeting between Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, and Chairman National Development and Reform Commission Zheng Shanjie in Beijing on Tuesday.

Both the sides decided to hold regular meetings of the Joint Working Groups to review ongoing cooperation under the CPEC framework and focus on industrialization, agriculture, Science and Technology and Socio-economic development. Chairmen Zheng also offered to share Chinese expertise and knowledge to enhance Pakistan’s export earnings and accelerate Special Economic Zones (SEZs) development.

It is pertinent to mention that Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal is on a four-day official visit to China to mark the ten-year celebrations of the CPEC.
