AJK premier for benefitting from CPEC to uplift the socio-economic conditions of people

Mirpur: Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, has highlighted the significant hydro-power potential in the region and stressed the necessity of harnessing it to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the people in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), getting support from the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Speaking at a high-level meeting of the Energy and Water Resources Department held at Jammu Kashmir House here, he underlined the importance of uninterrupted electricity supply across the state and mentioned that CPEC will ensure smooth supply of cheaper electricity.

He emphasized the need for improving the power distribution system, repairing feeders, and explored potential projects like the Khurshidabad Power Project, Transmission Lines, and area connections.

He urged enhanced maintenance of projects by the AJK Power Development Organization (PDO) for citizens’ comfort.

PM Haq emphasized effective strategies for various power projects. He stressed the maintenance of community development projects, transparent billing systems, and decentralization of the Monitoring and Development (M&D) department.

Secretary of Energy and Water Resources AJK, Chaudhry Muhammad Tayyab, provided a comprehensive overview of the electricity distribution system in AJK during the meeting, which was attended by various government officials and ministers.
