Iranian Ambassador praises CPEC as a significant project for the region

Lahore: Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Raza Amiri Moghaddam has praised the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a significant project for the region.

In a weekend meeting with Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman here, the envoy stressed that the CPEC would address Pakistan’s energy requirements and also offered Iran’s cooperation in the energy sector.

Ambassador Raza Amiri Moghaddam of Iran emphasized the close and amicable relations that Iran shares with Pakistan. The envoy also highlighted the potential for collaboration in the media and medical fields, with Iran’s expertise in organ transplantation presenting an opportunity for enhanced cooperation. He expressed his determination to elevate the levels of trade, tourism, and cultural relations between the two nations.

Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman acknowledged the longstanding and respectful relationship between Pakistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran. He identified numerous prospects for increased cooperation, including trade, tourism, culture, and education.

The Governor mentioned that foreign investors are welcomed with attractive incentives in the export processing zones established under CPEC, encouraging Iranian industrialists to consider investments in these zones.

He also noted the positive development of barter trade and highlighted the symbolic visit of the Iranian President to border markets alongside the Pakistani Prime Minister, which conveyed a positive message to both nations.

An official statement said the Governor expressed Pakistan’s active efforts to enhance its trade relationships with friendly nations, aiming to mutually benefit from each other’s developmental experiences in the economic sector.
