Two-day international conference at Bacha Khan University explores potential benefits of agriculture within CPEC

Charsadda: A two-day international conference exploring the potential benefits of agriculture within the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was organized at Bacha Khan University.

The conference saw the participation of scientists and researchers from various parts of the country, the Bacha Khan University said in a statement on Monday afternoon.

Speakers at the event highlighted that the CPEC project holds the promise of bringing about a significant transformation in the agricultural sector, as well as other areas in Pakistan.

They noted that through new research and modern farming techniques, crop production is expected to be greatly enhanced.

During the conference’s closing day, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Bashir Ahmed awarded certificates to the participants. Distinguished attendees included Professor Dr Zahid Anwar from the China Study Centre at the University of Peshawar, Dr Muhammad Aarif from Agriculture University Peshawar, and Professor Dr Atta-ur-Rahman from the University of Peshawar, all of whom presented their research findings.

The organizers stressed that Pakistan, being predominantly an agrarian nation, stands to gain significantly from developments in the agricultural sector under the CPEC initiative.

Consequently, new agricultural projects initiated as part of CPEC are expected to contribute significantly to achieving self-sufficiency in food production. Furthermore, it was highlighted during the event that women in the province could also benefit from opportunities in the agricultural sector under the CPEC.
