Turkish CJ visits Pakistan-China Joint Chambers of Commerce and Industry office

Lahore: Consul General of the Republic of Turkiye, Durmus Bastug, paid a visit to the Pakistan-China Joint Chambers of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) in Lahore,

The purpose of the meeting, held at the PCJCCI Secretariat, was to discuss trilateral relations among Turkiye, Pakistan, and China.

The executive committee members of PCJCCI, along with prominent business leaders from both Pakistan and China, attended the meeting.

On the occasion, PCJCCI President Moazzam Ghurki emphasized the fraternal ties between Pakistan, Turkiye, and China, suggesting that the three nations could complement each other’s economies in various fields.

He urged a concerted effort to promote trade and economic ties for mutually beneficial outcomes. Ghurki highlighted Pakistan’s market access in traditional and non-traditional sectors, ranging from leather and rice to seafood and engineering goods.

Consul General Durmus Bastug shared his perspective, stating that the existing good relations between Turkiye and Pakistan should be translated into growing business ties for mutual economic benefits. He pointed out that the current trade volume, standing at USD 1.2 billion, fell short of expectations, setting a primary goal to achieve a USD 5 billion trade volume in the coming years. Bastug noted significant Turkish investments in the Punjab region and the operations of more than 15 Turkish companies in various fields in Punjab.

Secretary General Salahuddin Hanif of the joint chamber emphasized the potential of the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul train project, proposing its implementation to enhance regional connectivity. He highlighted the project’s potential to reduce travel time significantly and boost tourism between the three countries. PCJCCI aims to play a role in strengthening bilateral and trilateral trade relations, contributing to regional connectivity.
