Pakistan would continue to adhere to “One China” policy, Alvi tells FM Wang Yi

Islamabad: Pakistani President Dr Arif Alvi has said that Pakistan would continue to adhere to the “One China” policy.

In a meeting with State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi here, he maintained that Pakistan firmly supports China on all of its core issues, including Taiwan, Tibet, Hong Kong and the South China Sea.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on President Dr Arif Alvi at the presidency on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Council (OIC)’s Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Islamabad. FM Wang Yi has been invited by Pakistan as a special guest.

While welcoming the Chinese Foreign Minister, the President mentioned that relations between the two countries were deep-rooted and were progressing with every passing year.

He stated that Pakistan and China were “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partners” and Pakistan would continue to adhere to the “One China.”

FM Wang Yi reiterated that China would support Pakistan and continue its cooperation for its economic and industrial development.

He said that cooperation between the two countries was growing very well and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would greatly help towards the sustainable development of Pakistan.
