ToBRFV-resistant tomato variety launches in Italy

Rome: Vilmorin-Mikado Italia launches Giubilo F1 from Hazera into the market. This variety has a ToBRFV intermediate resistance. Result of 7 years of research and development, Giubilo F1 is a solution for growers facing severe disease pressure in Italy from this highly infectious virus.

“Giubilo F1 has an excellent combination of agronomic traits, with the optimal balance between protection and performance,” says the company. “The variety has ToBRFV IR and also brings high yield, adaptability to long cycle, nice cluster presentation, and great flavor of fruits.”

Since this virus hit, Vilmorin-Mikado teams have been working on providing growers with the best solutions to face this disease. Through Limagrain’s upstream research, Vilmorin-Mikado has been contributing to a network of internal and external collaborative discovery projects on ToBRFV using different approaches. “Today, our tomato research & development teams are still dedicated to ToBRFV, and more varieties with ToBRFV resistance will be introduced in the market.”
