Pakistani, Chinese universities sign MoU to establish a laboratory focused on ‘ecosystem restoration and sustainable development’

Faisalabad: Pakistan’s University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shenyang Normal University (SYNU) to establish a laboratory focused on “ecosystem restoration and sustainable development.”

This collaboration also aims to enhance academic and research cooperation to leverage each other’s expertise.

The online agreement was signed by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and SYNU’s Vice President Prof Tong Yuping, representing their respective institutions.

During the physical signing ceremony at Shenyang Normal University, various UAF representatives including Prof Muhammad Jalal Arif, Chairman of the Department of Entomology and Principal Officer of the Department of Public Relations and Publications; Prof Muhammad Jafar Jaskani, Director of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC); Prof Muhammad Saqib, Director of External Linkages; Associate Prof Abid Ali from the Department of Entomology; Associate Senior Tutor and Associate Director of Students’ Affairs, Dr Zeeshan Ahmed; and Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography’s Assistant Prof, attended the event.

The ceremony, presided over by Zhang Wei, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department, was attended by Dean of the School of Life Sciences Professor Zhang Yang, Party Secretary Liu Haibang, Professor Zheng Guo, Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Division Qi Nan, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office Hu Bo, Vice Deans of the School of Life Sciences Dong Bingjun and Liu Xinyu.

During the event, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan expressed gratitude to Shenyang Normal University for their warm hospitality.

He highlighted that the Pakistani delegation’s visit had fostered strong collaborative ties with SYN University, leading to the establishment of an inter-university joint laboratory and strengthening the friendship and cooperation between China and Pakistan.

He expressed optimism for more innovative cooperation projects in ecosystem restoration and sustainable development between China and Pakistan, further deepening scientific research collaboration and jointly advancing the high-quality development of the “Belt and Road” initiative.”
